Gatting’s Unforgettable Pitlane Mishap: The Incident That Stole the Spotlight at Le Mans 24 Hours

Iron Dames driver Michelle Gatting sustained a broken foot in a pitlane incident at the Le Mans 24 Hours Test Day, preventing her from racing. Due to her injury, Silver-rated Sarah Bovy will replace her in the Porsche 911 GT3 R line-up. The incident occurred during a driver change in a crowded pitlane following a red flag.

Gatting emphasized that the mishap was a result of unfortunate circumstances, with no one to blame. She expressed her disappointment at missing the race, especially after transitioning to Porsche machinery and feeling well-prepared for the event. Gatting attempted to persuade the team that she could still drive, but ultimately, Bovy was enlisted to join Rahel Frey and Celia Martin in the LMGT3 Porsche.

Despite missing Le Mans, Gatting aims to return to action at the Imola round of the European Le Mans Series. The Iron Dames trio currently leads the ELMS LMGT3 standings and remains determined to compete for the championship.
